Long Point Basin Land Trust (LPBLT) is a charitable organization with a mission to protect the rich biodiversity and
habitats of the Long Point Basin area located in the Carolinian region, an area with one of the highest biodiversity
levels in Canada. This is accomplished through land ownership, land management, and nature stewardship on
properties owned by the Land Trust, partner organizations, and private land stewards. Since our incorporation in
1996, we have acquired and protected 13 nature reserves totaling over 840 hectares, and work to restore
functioning habitats and ecosystems within them through ongoing stewardship programs and outreach and
volunteer activities.
As a local land trust operating within a defined area of Southern Ontario (primarily in Norfolk County, and also
serving parts of Elgin, Oxford, and Brant counties), LPBLT directly works with members of our community to secure
lands, raise funds, and promote and conduct nature stewardship activities on our reserves.
